COMPANY HISTORY

The Boutell Company was formed as a manufacturers' representative business in the early 1950s by C. H. Ansley. The company helped pioneer the commercialization of the Meinzer motion vibratory separator made by Southwestern Engineering Company in Los Angeles. This new round screening machine later became know as the SWECO Separator. Free in-plant pilot testing by local representatives empirically determined what this new technology could do. Selling by demonstration became a hallmark of these early district engineers. This tradition of testing-before-the-sale continues today both in the field and at formal company test centers.

In 1973 Jonathan Ansley purchased the business from C.H. Ansley and today continues its operation in Rochester. A staff of three serve the Upstate New York territory for those principals who are listed on the line-card page of this web site. Each of the represented companies is a leader in its industry.

BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY

  • Add value:
Provide customers with cost effective solutions: equipment is always shipped direct from the manufacturer to the job site, without mark-up or integration fee.

  • Provide Systems when needed:
Boutell's principals often cooperate with one another to provide small plug and play systems without the added costs of integration fees.

  • Offer Testing:
When necessary, we encourage customers to have their products tested prior to purchase. This maximizes our success rate and lowers risk. Machine design is appropriately configured for the materials processed.

  • Insure customer satisfaction through good communications:
Have a concierge approach to customer relationships, from initial process problem solving and equipment testing/selection through start-up and operator training. A person always answers the phone at Boutell.

  • Employ a problem solving approach:
Help customers find the right solution to their process problems/applications, without pressure to force fit a solution. Strive to create and maintain long term relationships.
